Who can I give this to if I can't use it myself?

If you yourself can’t use this journal, it still is a great gift for daughters, sisters, wives, mothers, friends, cousins, lovers, those tracking fertility, clients, those with inconsistent flows, or anyone else with a uterus.

What if I use hormonal birth control & I have an irregular cycle or none at all?

If your cycle is non-existent or irregular, this journal can assist you to track and/or work to find your inner patterns even amidst irregular cycling. In the journal, there is guidance on how to use the moon as a tracking point when your period is not prominent or consistent enough to figure out which phase you are in. There are symptoms listed as a starting point for your tracking, and they will be relevant for most individuals, but there are also blank spots for you to add your own.

Why is this journal useful?

Cycles Journal helps you understand your unique patterns and cyclical nature better. It enables you to predict dates that are usually harder emotionally or physically, plan around them, and notice if moods are re-occuring during certain times. It assists you in noticing when something seems irregular, provides you with space to write and release—and helps you avoid overdoing it during sensitive times.

Who is this for?

The journal is suitable and intended for all who bleed or have a uterus, regardless of age, gender-identity, sexuality, or any physiological traits. This journal is a safe space.

Last updated: September 17, 2020 11:21

What if I don’t bleed currently? Is this journal for me, too?

Absolutely! If you are in your menstrual years, you have a cycle and experience hormonal fluctuations and other influences of flow—even if it’s not standard or you don’t see blood monthly. While it revolves around a focus on the menstrual cycle, it is not discriminatory about how your cycle shows up, even if that means it doesn’t.

Can this journal help me chart my fertility naturally?

Yes! There is a space to track your temperature each day, as well as your cervical fluid, sexual activity, and other relevant symptoms. Many in our community use it as their natural birth control companion, or in tandem with other tools.

What if I’m postpartum, pregnant, trying to get pregnant or trying to avoid pregnancy?

For those of you who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or trying to prevent pregnancy, this journal can help you track fertility and other symptoms you may be looking out for!

Last updated: September 17, 2020 11:21

What if I’m pre- or post-menopausal?

This journal is focused on the menstrual stage of life, but can still be used as a planner, calendar, symptom-tracker, journal, moon-tracker, ritual kit & more to track your self-care, patterns and physical health.

There are blank spaces in the symptom-tracking section for you to write about your unique experiences, and you can replace symptoms like “bleeding” with your own. We believe it can still be useful for you as long as you feel comfortable and informed of its primary focus.

Last updated: September 17, 2020 11:21

Can I use this as my planner or calendar too? Or with other planners, journals or calendars?

Yes of course! Some use it as their planner/calendar since it fully functions as such, and other use it alongside it. It’s a great companion to any tools you use, since it helps remind you to add your cycle to any calendars you use, and helps you plan your life with your cycle in mind!

Is this journal good for first-time bleeders or young kids under the age of 16?

While it is completely up to each individual parents’ discretion what is too mature or not for their child, we generally say it’s for ages 15+ — but it totally depends on maturity and such, since age is a number.

Cycles Journal is a dense, in-depth journal. Some 15-year-olds will thrive in this environment, and for others this may be overwhelming or too advanced.

For the latter reason and considering that menarche can begin as young as 9, we also offer a simpler printable PDF version.

Is this journal only for women?

No, not exclusively, since women are not the only people who bleed. This journal is for anyone with a womb/uterus regardless of gender-identity. We honor the full spectrum of beautiful non-binary, transgender, gender-non conforming & queer people who bleed, and we do this through using inclusive language throughout the journal’s words and imagery.

What if I'm not in sync with the moon?

You are always in sync with the moon in your own unique way. This journal is about finding synchronicity and alignment within yourself and not with a specific moon phase. Whichever moon you bleed on is perfect for you, and this space will help you figure out what it means for you and how it possibly affects you.

So it’s not about cycle-syncing with the moon — bleeding with the new moon is not our goal nor is it any better than aligning with any other phase.

Do you make an un-dated version of the journal? Why does it need to be dated?

Cycles Journal is an annual publication because we want to provide you with all of the external influences and its information so you can focus on your inner influence and information. If we made it undated, it would not have the lunar phases, astrological signs, eclipses, solstices, and so on. We believe this is vital information for comparison, pattern-tracking, and using these influences as guides for when your cycle is irregular and not present. & we feature new content in each edition!

Do you consider the environment while creating and producing this?

We consider the environmental impact in all that we do. The creator Rachael Amber is an environmental activist & artist who considers nature & others in all that she creates. This is why we chose to work with our printer since they had the best quality materials that also considered the environment.

We do not mass produce, we choose ethical printers, FSC certified recycled paper, eco-friendly packaging.

We also offer ideas on how to reuse, store or recycle the journal at the end of the year.

Is the paper quality good for writing?

Yes, we have taken extra measures to make sure the paper is uncoated in this upcoming year and for future years. It’s easy to write on with any writing implement. It’s also thick enough so a pen or thin ink pen should not bleed through in regular writing.

I want to start tracking before 2021. Where can I get the 2020 edition?

While the physical copies of the 2020 Journal are sold out, you can purchase a PDF as an add-on to any perk in this campaign for a very low price.

This upcoming edition begins on December 29, 2021, which is the solstice and the first new moon cycle leading into the new year.

If you want to be sure to know about the journal ahead of time in future years so you can start tracking right when it begins, make sure to sign up for our newsletter at cyclesjournal.com so you never miss out!

What time zones & hemisphere is this good for?

This journal is created in the Eastern US time zone (EST) of the northern hemisphere, but is still accurate for anyone around the world.

I’ve had questions in the past if this is for someone who lives in the southern hemisphere. We mention this because it’s up to you. If you’re okay with it being just slightly different since we have opposite solstices and experience moon phases by a few days or hours difference, then we say that this journal would still be just as useful for you!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
